Help for Heroes Charity Campaign

Charity Campaign
Val Butler, Ken Taylor, Becki Ephgrave, Pat Rendell, Jacqi Ephgrave and Adrian Livingstone arrived at the Elmsleigh Centre, Staines High Street at 8.30am. We had prime position and set up our Help for Heroes stall, posters, wrist bands, buckets and collecting tins and an a frame with MPI (Middlesex Paranormal Investigations) supports Help for Heroes poster in the middle. While two of us manned the stall the rest split up and each of us had a bucket and mingled with the shoppers. In no time at all people were flocking to the stall putting money in the tins £20.00/£10.00/£5.00 notes as well as emptying their pockets and purses. Mr Balloon man Simon Twistit made us some balloon hats to wear in red white and blue. By lunch time our arms were aching with the weight of the buckets. Gary then accompanied us and bought us all drinks (so welcome as it was hot) thank you Gary for your kindness. We had sold all the wrist bands and could have sold more, in fact Ken and Val sold their own ones. Val sold the balloon Hat that she had been given for £5.00. We were astounded by the amount of money being given to us and how so many people were interested in Help for Heroes Charity; people were congratulating MPI for what we were doing to help the Charity. By 4.00pm our time was up, with aching legs, feet and arms we packed all away and made our way home.
In the evening we all assembled at Jacqi’s house, her garden all decorated, and Becki’s boyfriend Dane and Nan welcomed us so warmly. We emptied all the containers and started the count of the day, something we had all been looking forward to. But never in our wildest dreams did we realize just how much money we had collected a staggering £1,322.00. Soon after all the excitement we had a lovely Bar-B-Q the food was just perfect, all cooked by perfection by Dane (thank you so much Dane). The party continued until after 12 midnight and a good time was held by all.
MPI would like to say a BIG THANK YOU TO ALL YOU GOOD PEOPLE OF STAINES ON THE DAY, YOU DID HELP FOR HEROES AND MIDDLESEX PROUD.
To Ken Pat Becki Jacqi Adrian and Gary for giving up your Saturday you were all stars and I am proud to have you as members of MPI. Well Done!!
